Cinnamon & Mustard Red-collard Lorikeets

warning contains photos of Hybrids

At Karmic Aviaries we are now specialized in mutation Rainbows Lorikeets this page is dedicated to the Lutino Scalies & Rainbows

Here is some lovely photos of a 15/16 Lutino Rainbow Hen{to me this look and is as pure as you would need to stop calling it a hybrid}breed at and bought from Utopia Birds Photo by Paul Keurzen, Paul and wife Cheryl .

But from memory Mr Russell MacAlister & Bill Connors who bought the true first lutino scaley from Horst Bickel, and Russel & Bill well and truely estabilished the lutino scaley brested lorikeet all from this one lutino hen.

Glenn Matheson of Sticky-Beak Aviaries™ was the first to Hybridize the Lutino Scalies to the Rainbow, Musked Lorikeets and Red-collard to pure 7/8 split male after many years of outcrossing back to pure stock,

As for Lutino Red-collards read ABK magazine Vol 14 Issue 11 Oct-Nov 2001 pages 626 to 629 The split males that Bob Willis talks about in this article was bred by Glenn Matheson as well

In the new Book by Mr Stan Sindle & Dr Jim Gill new australian Lorikeet book now out in this book it quote 7/8 as pure, that is four cross back to pure stock is PURE, so to me once over 7/8 you can and should call your new mutation PURE.

From 30/12/2007 when I use the word "PURE" the denote a birds that is at least 63/64 pure rainbow, up to this point I will state Pure 15/16 or Pure 31/32.

All Lutino Rainbow Lorikeet now beeen breed at Karmic Aviaries are Pure

Pure Lutino 15/16 this hen is one of our foundation stock very cock breed from her is Pure 31/32 split Lutino

Utopia Birds owners Paul Keurzen, with his wife Cheryl have put a lot of hard work and many year in to these beautiful birds . Both the Cinnamon (Dilute) & Mustard (Grey-green Dilute) Red-collards lorikeets

3/4 Mustard Red-collard Lorikeet look Bloody PURE to me.

3/4 Cinnamon [Dilute] Red-collard Lorikeet look Bloody PURE to me.

NOW this look pure and if you did not know you would say this was a pure Mustard red-collard lorikeets

and not 3/4 Hybrid.

NOW this a Cinnamon Red what a beauty

Here he is with his mate a Olive {greygreen} split to Cinnamon hen

Mr Stan Sindle & Dr Jim Gill new australian Lorikeet book now out in this book it quote 7/8 as pure, that is four cross back to pure stock is PURE, os to me once over 7/8 you can and should call your new mutation PURE.

A bit about Hybrids and purity
But remember that they will away have a tiny percentage of Rainbow
blood in them. So people have taken the Dilute (cinnamon Rainbow) and
cross it with Red-collards and after nine years they are still work on
them but they will get there. They are some people who get a bit up set
about saying that these are Cinnamon Red-collards but the same people
breed Grey-green (Olive) Rainbow as pure but this mutation came from
crossing the Grey-green (Olive) Scalies to Rainbows. In Stud book
breeding other animals 1/2 breed are F1 3/4 are F2 7/8 are F3 and (some
stud line consider these animals as good enough as pure but not
registrable) But some look for 15/16 which are F4 (which I consider
pure and most stud books heifers, does & Mares are at this stage but bulls, Bucks and Stallions have to be one more cross)
But once you have 31/32 which is F5 and 63/64 which is F6 well why would any one argue about it. Unless they just like to Argue. Hope this has helped. Mick

But remember that they will away have a tiny percentage of Rainbow & Scaly
blood in them.

How the percentages work out in to decimals

1/2 as a percentage
To convert the fraction to a percent, begin by converting to a decimal. The whole number portion of the mixed number entered was zero, so it can be ignored.
To get a decimal approximation of the fraction, simply divide the fraction's numerator by its denominator.

1 / 2 = 0.5

Now multiply by 100, and add a percent symbol.0.5 * 100 = 50.0
50.0%

3/4 as a percentage
To convert the fraction to a percent, begin by converting to a decimal. The whole number portion of the mixed number entered was zero, so it can be ignored.
To get a decimal approximation of the fraction, simply divide the fraction's numerator by its denominator.

3 / 4 = 0.75

Now multiply by 100, and add a percent symbol.0.75 * 100 = 75.00
75.00%

7/8 as a percentage
To convert the fraction to a percent, begin by converting to a decimal. The whole number portion of the mixed number entered was zero, so it can be ignored.
To get a decimal approximation of the fraction, simply divide the fraction's numerator by its denominator.

7 / 8 = 0.875 that is less than 12.5% hybrid blood

Now multiply by 100, and add a percent symbol.0.875 * 100 = 87.500
87.500%

15/16 as a percentage
To convert the fraction to a percent, begin by converting to a decimal. The whole number portion of the mixed number entered was zero, so it can be ignored.
To get a decimal approximation of the fraction, simply divide the fraction's numerator by its denominator.

15 / 16 = 0.9375 that leaves less the 6.25% of hybrid blood

Now multiply by 100, and add a percent symbol.0.9375 * 100 = 93.7500
93.7500%

31/32 as percentage
To convert the fraction to a percent, begin by converting to a decimal. The whole number portion of the mixed number entered was zero, so it can be ignored.
To get a decimal approximation of the fraction, simply divide the fraction's numerator by its denominator.

31 / 32 = 0.96875 that leaves less the 3.125% of hybrid blood,,,

Now multiply by 100, and add a percent symbol.0.96875 * 100 = 96.87500 making 96.87500%

63/64 as a percentage
To convert the fraction to a percent, begin by converting to a decimal. The whole number portion of the mixed number entered was zero, so it can be ignored.
To get a decimal approximation of the fraction, simply divide the fraction's numerator by its denominator.

63 / 64 = 0.984375 that leaves less the 1.6% of hybrid blood

Now multiply by 100, and add a percent symbol.0.984375 * 100 = 98.437500
98.437500%

Except Grey-green {Olive} Scaleies All other Grey-green mutations are a hybrid this includes Grey-green Melanistic rainbows and Mustard rainbows, Greengreen Redcollards are double hybrids as they have both scalies and rainbow blood in them.

But remember that they will away have a tiny percentage of Rainbow & Scaly
blood in them.
